You can help us build the best Christian College in the Wellington Region by helping us recruit students. Here are some ideas of ways to help us recruit students:
- Print out some brochures and hand them out to friends and family, or fellow church members
- Use the script to tell your church or church group about the school
- Print off a prospectus and give it to someone who might like more information
- Play the video at your church at the end of the service or during general notices
- Get in contact with us about someone who we can contact who would like more information

Script
This four minute script outlines why we believe Christian education is important, who we are, how we work and a little about our plans for the next three years.
“As a parent it is my job to ensure that my children are raised in the discipline and instruction of the Lord (Eph 6:4). This means that I need to make the right decisions about how our family will live, the activities that we engage in as a family and also, critically my children’s education. Children spend around seven hours every day, or 35 hours every week in school. Children generally spend another 35 hours each week at home (excluding weekends). Given most children spend additional time in sporting or recreational activities, out of my direct care, the time my children spend in school through the week will often be greater than the time I will spend with them directly. So, whose influence are my children under during that school time? What ideals and values are being taught to my children and are they consistent with the ideals and values I am trying to instill into them during the small amount of time I have with them?
Hutt Valley Christian School exists to assist parents in the fulfilling of the scriptural mandate to raise children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. We believe the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and we base our entire curriculum on the reliable and solid foundation of God’s word, the Bible. With this foundation, we then take a classical education framework which consists of three stages (grammar years – primary and intermediate, logic years – years 9-10 and rhetoric years – years 11-12). The classical education builds students through foundation knowledge into young adults who can think and reason like adults, using sound logic and reasoning to research their case, state them clearly and argue for them.
Hutt Valley Christian School is a fully private school. We are not in any way state integrated and do not use any government curriculum. Instead, we use the best curriculum available to us sourced, both locally and from overseas. This ensures that we have a high degree of control over what your child will learn and are eager to partner with you in the delivery of this curriculum.
To recognize students’ progress we use the internationally recognized Cambridge International Exams – used by the top schools in New Zealand (e.g. Kings College, Auckland Grammar, etc) and around the world. Cambridge International Exams is part of the University of Cambridge and was established to provide high quality, leading edge qualifications that meet the ongoing demands of employers and educators across the world.
As a private school, we are funded primarily from school fees. We work hard to keep these reasonable, and believe they are not only some of the best value fees around, but also perhaps the lowest private school fees in the Wellington region. We are determined to make our school available to as many Christian families as possible and in some cases may be able to help with assistance with fees where these would normally be prohibitive.
2010 marks the beginning of a new phase in the history of Hutt Valley Christian School. The school has opened up its doors and now warmly welcomes children from any Christian home, whose parents are born again believers in Jesus Christ and who are happy to stand by the well known biblical statements of the Westminster Catechism. In 2010 the school welcomes enrollments for years nine, 10 and 11. In 2011 we plan to open up to year 12 and in 2012 we plan to open up year 13 and build a full service Christian College in the Hutt Valley for all Christian families to benefit from.
